Regatta 5: GC32 Oman Cup, Muscat, Oman

The GC32 Oman Cup will decide which of the favourites will take the overall victory and thus the GC32 Racing Tour title. The fact that Team Oman Air is a hot contender for the crown and thus has the prospect of a home win, will provide the hosts with additional anticipation.

Muscat will not only be giving the high-performance yachts of the GC32 Racing Tour a warm welcome. Oman is known for its hospitality and open-minded culture.

 

In Muscat, a new, modern district has been under construction since around 2006: Al Mouj is located on the coast, near Oman’s International Airport and not far from the city centre. With Al Mouj, Muscat gets a new lifestyle and leisure quarter with a beautiful promenade, shopping centres, restaurants, cafés and with Marina Al Mouj a modern marina.

At the gates of the port there are not only countless whales and dolphins in the water, but also sailors and water sports enthusiasts of all kinds. The Gulf of Oman is not only known for its wonderful marine fauna, but also for its excellent water and wind conditions.

The GC32 Racing Tour will take place at Marina Al Mouj in the heart of Muscat and is looking forward to a glamorous end to the 2019 season under the best conditions and with an international audience.

 

Black Star Sailing has decided to complete the GC32 Racing Tour, although Muscat is more logistically demanding than the four previous Tour stops.

The hosts and the GC32 Racing Tour management will also be offering participants the opportunity to station their boats in Al Mouj Harbour after the end of the race series, providing ideal conditions for repeated warm training over the winter months.

The fact that the 2020 season will most likely start with the GC32 Oman Cup ultimately convinced Black Star to follow the Racing Tour to Muscat.
