Cape 31 – UK Series Round 3 – UK Summer Series Hamble, 12 – 14 June 2026, Hamble, Great Britain  |  Ironically, it was the IRC Europeans in Poole, held in May well before the start of summer, that provided a remarkably summery taste of things to come. The south coast of England presented itself from its picture-perfect side for this time of year. The conditions in Poole were more reminiscent of the Mediterranean than the British south coast: plenty of sunshine, summery temperatures and only light winds characterised the regatta days. Consequently, patience, clean sailing and a good feel for the constantly changing wind conditions were essential on the water.

With the third round of the Cape 31 UK Series, the ‘UK Summer Series’ now follows in Hamble, appropriately enough. The event is part of the historic Royal Southern Summer Series and is hosted by the Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble-le-Rice – a venue that also has deep ties to British sailing. The regatta itself will once again be held in the Solent, the very waters that are shaping the character of the Black Star Sailing event calendar this year.

For Black Star Sailing, this marks the continuation of an intense phase. Cowes, Poole and Hamble follow one after the other within a few weeks, enabling an almost continuous cycle of training, regatta and analysis. It was precisely this compact structure that was a key reason for the decision to relocate the 2026 Cape 31 campaign to the UK.

The first two events have shown that the newly formed team is becoming increasingly settled and is gradually adapting to the conditions in the Solent. Hamble now offers the next opportunity to further consolidate the progress made so far – in a field that is also highly competitive and where the results are remarkably close.

There won’t be much time to catch our breath after Hamble: shortly afterwards, our focus will shift back to the RC44 class. The 44Cup Marstrand in Sweden at the end of June presents the next major challenge on the international regatta calendar.
