Cape 31 UK Series Round 6 – Season Finale Cowes

Where the Cape 31 UK Series began in May, it ends in September: in Cowes, the Black Star Sailing Cape 31 team contests the sixth round – the season finale of a compact, tightly scheduled British campaign.

The finale is hosted by the Royal Thames Yacht Club. Founded in 1775 as the “Cumberland Fleet” on the Thames, the club is regarded as the oldest continuously operating yacht club in the world, and one of the earliest forms of organised fleet racing traces back to it. This year, its long-standing Annual Regatta on the Solent off Cowes forms the closing round of the Cape 31 UK Series – staged as the “Season Finale – Royal Thames Yacht Club Regatta”.

This is where the overall standings of the 2026 UK Series are decided. After a summer full of racing in southern England, every race counts once more – and with its tidal streams and shifting winds, the Solent demands full attention right to the end.

For Black Star Sailing, this brings a British season to a close – one in which the crew, newly assembled over the winter, has grown together event by event. The finale is also a final chance to take stock before the season’s big goal: a month later, the class’s World Championship, the Cape 31 Gold Cup, runs from 12 to 17 October in St Tropez.
