The GC32 World Championship 2022 is cause for a great deal of expectation: with a line-up of ten teams, the event has returned to the size of 2019. Just like before the pandemic, teams from all over the world will travel to compete for the desired trophy. For GC32 is still the only hydrofoiling catamaran class to hold a certified world championship. The list of participants is correspondingly remarkable, including SailGP teams, America’s Cup winners and challengers.<\/p>\n

The fact that this year’s GC32 World Championship can take place again in Lagos after a short break of only two weeks makes this regatta all the more exciting. The environment, the boat set-up, but above all the wind and water conditions are very familiar to most from the first Lagos Cup. As a result, the fight for positions in the already very tight field of participants will be even tougher, and the teams will get the last out of themselves and their boats at speeds beyond 30 knots.<\/p>\n

With a rather mediocre result at the first GC32 Lagos event, the Black Star Sailing Team will have to work hard on itself and its processes. At the GC32 World Championship 2021 in Villasimius, we missed the podium by just one point. We are all the more ambitious for the GC32 World Championship 2022 in Lagos, and will try to improve and give our best in our preparations, our training and ultimately in every single race.<\/p>\n
