Cape 31 – UK Series Round 4 – UK National Championship Hamble, 3 – 5 July 2026, Hamble, United Kingdom  | The demanding 44Cup waters off Marstrand are barely in our wake before Black Star Sailing and its Cape 31 team head back to England’s south coast – to the Solent, the waters that shape much of this season. With the UK National Championships, the Cape 31 UK Series reaches its high point in Hamble: the regatta at which the British Cape 31 fleet crowns its champion, and which accordingly draws a full and competitive turnout.

This event is once again hosted by the Royal Southern Yacht Club. Founded in 1837, the club is one of the most storied names in British sailing and sits on the banks of the River Hamble, for decades one of the hubs of international yachting. From here the courses lead out into the Solent – waters that demand the utmost precision, with strong tidal streams, shifting winds and tight courses. Clean timing, clear communication and quick adjustments count for as much here as raw boatspeed.

For Black Star Sailing, the return to the now more familiar Solent is more than just another round of the series. Cowes, Poole and Hamble followed one after another in early summer, creating an almost continuous cycle of training, racing and analysis. The National Championships now become a yardstick for this compact campaign: in a closely matched fleet, it will show how far the team, newly formed over the winter, has truly come towards its season goals.

This is what the Cape 31 stands for at Black Star Sailing: the class combines fast-paced one-design racing with focused youth development, giving up-and-coming Swiss sailors a stage on which to hold their own against experienced international crews.
