44Cup World Championship 2026 Scheveningen
44Cup World Championship 2025 Scheveningen, 27 – 31 August 2025, The Hague, Netherlands |
With the start of the second half of the 2025 season, a major event is just around the corner: the RC44 Class World Championship. This regatta is the highlight of the regatta year for many reasons.
After many different venues in various boat classes, the Black Star Sailing Team is heading for this destination for the first time. And after Black Star Sailing was closely involved in the 44Cup World Championship 2024 in Brunnen on Lake Urnersee and performed at its best in front of a home crowd, curiosity about the 2025 World Championship and expectations of its own performance are naturally high.
Scheveningen, the coastal district of The Hague, will welcome the 44Cup fleet for the first time this year, marking a sporting and geographical highlight with the 44Cup World Championship 2025. The traditional seaside resort, a long pier, the well-kept beach promenade crowned by an imposing neo-Renaissance spa building give Scheveningen a special atmosphere.
The event will be hosted by the Scheveningen Yacht Club, under the direction of Nico Poons – the 44Cup champion in 2022 and 2023. The racing area is extremely challenging: the North Sea provides mild temperatures of around 18 degrees Celsius and mostly south-westerly winds, as well as strong tidal currents over sandy shoals – challenging, but perfect for tactically astute RC44 sailing. The proximity of the race courses to the beach promenade guarantees exciting views: the public can watch the competitions up close from the shore.
For the Black Star Sailing Team, Scheveningen is the highlight of the season. After solid results in Porto Cervo (5th place) and intensive training in Marstrand, we are now ready to build on our momentum and use the World Championship atmosphere to our advantage to achieve our best performances.
Once again, we look forward to your support on shore and online! Follow the races live via TracTrac or on the official 44Cup website:
